The Best Darn Not-Green Smoothie | The Spice Girl Blog
Today, I am recovering. Holiday food (think crepes, french toast, and standing-rib roasts), family (15 adults and 13 kids) in close quarters, and work last night have me feeling like I could use a 24 hour nap. Instead, I'm drinking this juice, and I feel better already. Here is a 15 second clip of "how-to" make this smoothie. Ingredients and instructions below!
By popular demand, I also have added Nutrition Facts for this smoothie as estimated by MyFitnessPal. These facts by no means are official and are an estimate used for reference. This smoothie is great for vitamin C, fiber, and vitamin K. *Adjust this recipe to fit your New Years Resolutions!
The Best Darn Not-Green Smoothie
Serves 2
2 Cups Kale (washed, stems and ribs removed)
8 oz Orange Juice
1 Banana
2 Cups Frozen Mixed Berries
4 oz Plain Greek Yogurt
1/2 Cup Water (optional)
1. Blend kale, banana, greek yogurt, and orange juice thoroughly.
If you are a texture person, you could strain through a sieve at this step to remove a bit of kale. However, this will be removing some vitamins and fiber.
2. Add mixed berries and blend
3. If texture is too thick, add water until desired consistency is achieved. Enjoy!
*Without greek yogurt, this recipe is Whole30, Paleo, gluten-free and whatever other name you want to give to a delicious snack!
